Eygelshoven Bandwidth Information Print

  • 8

Introduction

This article contains information on the bandwidth guidelines on all new virtual servers provisioned in our new Eygelshoven, NL location. We have had to implement some stricter fair use guidelines as we have detected bandwidth abuse from new servers, and wanted to clear up any confusion on the bandwidth limitations.

Information

All host nodes in our Eygelshoven location are connected with 2x10G inbound speed, which can theoretically do a maximum throughput of approximately 20 Gbps inbound depending on various factors. The outbound network speed is limited to 1-2 Gbps sustained per host node. This uplink is shared between other VPS's on the host node. The inbound speed is unmetered and can be sustained for as long as you wish.

The DDoS mitigation is also sensitive, and can trigger when running things like iperf3, speedtest, or similar applications that max the bandwidth in short bursts/intervals after a bit. The DDoS protection is very unlikely to trigger in real world use cases. IPv6 is not protected with the mitigation, so you can use that too if your application or use case supports it.

Usages

All servers in Eygelshoven are encompassed by a "fair use" policy. This is to ensure the stability of our networks.

  • We may cap your server to 1 Gbps (or lower) if we feel that the outbound usage is too much.
  • There are no limits on the inbound (download) network, we mostly care about the outbound usages.
  • We would suggest not running applications that result in super high outbound network usage (i.e. 10TB+)

The price and model of your server will get factored in if we need to cap your VPS. Lower end models are more likely to get capped than higher end models.

Example Speedtest

Please note that these speeds aren't guaranteed, and can vary depending on the host node load.
